Details of Amazon warehouses in Kentucky

For FBA sellers and job seekers in Kentucky, here are some essential details of some notable warehouses of different cities of the state:

1. Amazon Fulfillment Center, Fayette County – LEX1

Address: 1850 Mercer Rd, Lexington, KY 40511, United States

One of the oldest warehouses in the state, the LEX1 is a standard fulfillment center housing more than 500 employees. The warehouse is pretty large and it shares space with another Amazon warehouse to cover a 1 million square feet area.

Although the workers are mostly satisfied with their wages and work environment, one news source reported that the authorities don’t pay enough attention to injured workers. The warehouse is located on the north side of the city and it only takes 14 minutes to get there by car.

2. Amazon Returns Center, Boone County – CVG2

Address: 1600 Worldwide Blvd, Hebron, KY 41048, United States

With the CVG2 warehouse, Amazon built the only returns center in Kentucky. Here, all the returned orders of Boone County are stored, processed, and shipped to a new destination.

Located in the northern part of the county, the warehouse ships products to Hebron, Cincinnati, Ohio to the northwest and Florence Kentucky to the southwest. The reviews for the warehouse services and work environment are mixed.

Late delivery, inefficient management, and lack of assistance are the common complaints of customers and drivers. From Hebron downtown, it’s only a 6-minute drive to the warehouse.

3. Amazon Third-Party/Subsidiary Warehouse, Jefferson County

Address: 8500 Logistics Airpark Dr, Louisville, KY 40219, United States

As an Amazon subsidiary, Zappos has a huge 325,000-square-foot facility in Louisville. The brand mainly sells shoes, jewelry, and clothing items independently.

Depending on the order volume, Amazon can store and ship products from this facility to fulfill local orders. However, the employees in Zappos might not get the same additional benefit packages as regular Amazon warehouse employees.

On average, workers in the warehouse get $17 per hour. What’s more, any Amazon employee can visit the warehouse and purchase shoes at various discount rates. It should take 27 minutes to get there by car from downtown.

4. Amazon Delivery Station, Jefferson County – DKY6

Address: 1231 Durrett Ln, Louisville, KY 40213, United States

In 2024, Amazon is all set to open its new state-of-the-art delivery station in Louisville. The 141,000-square-foot facility is the last stop for Amazon products from where the packages are directly delivered to the customers.

Located on the southern side of the city, the warehouse is close to Louisville International Airport. It aims to deliver packages only within 24 hours. The warehouse will employ 150 full-time workers with competitive wages and attractive benefits.

On average, workers will get $19 per hour depending on their positions and shifts. It’s only a 16-minute journey to the warehouse from downtown Louisville.

5. Amazon Sortation Center, Kenton County – LUK5

Address: 660 Sycamore Tree Ln Erlanger, KY 41018, United States

One of the largest Amazon warehouses in Erlanger, the LUK5 sortation center is the only company facility in Kenton County. Located in the southern Erlanger, the sortation center covers a large 575,000-square-foot building with 1,000 full-time employees.

The minimum hourly wage for full-time workers starts at $15. In this warehouse, products are sorted according to the receiver’s zip code and packed to deliver them to the nearest delivery station.

As the facility is only 1.8 miles away from the city downtown, it will take you only 5 minutes to reach there by car.

Amazon’s Largest Air Hub in Kentucky and Labor Union Controversy

In 2017, Amazon announced to building of an Air Hub in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The hub stands on a 920-acre land and includes a sorting facility, and massive parking space capable of housing 100 cargo aircraft.

Despite employing thousands of employees in the warehouse for both regional and international deliveries, the company has faced a huge backlash in 2022. There’s been a brewing labor union controversy at the Amazon KCVG air hub in Kentucky. Here’s what happened:

  • Issues with the Work Environment: Workers at the Amazon Air Hub have been unhappy with working conditions, including demanding schedules, lack of translation services for non-English speakers, and safety concerns. They also felt they weren’t adequately compensated during peak seasons like amazon Prime Day.
  • Labor Union Formation: Unionization efforts: In response, a group of workers started a campaign to form a union. They wanted collective bargaining power to negotiate better pay, benefits, and working conditions. Eventually, Amazon workers from other parts of the state also joined the union.
  • Amazon’s opposition: Amazon has reportedly been resistant to the unionization efforts. Workers have accused them of unfair labor practices such as threatening to fire pro-union workers, intimidation, and interrogation tactics.

Current Status: Finally, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) started investigating Amazon over these alleged violations. As of 2024, the situation remains unresolved. The outcome of the NLRB investigation and the fate of the unionization effort are yet to be determined.
