Thorough Analysis of Amazon’s Best Warehouses in Arizona

Check out the picture I have provided above. Here, you can see that there are multiple Amazon warehouses scattered across different cities in Arizona. Most of the large warehouses are located in the major cities of Arizona such as:

  • Phoenix.
  • Mayer.
  • Tempe.

Now, I will give you some details and interesting facts about some of the popular Amazon facilities that are operating in Arizona.

Amazon Fulfillment Center, Maricopa County-KRB9

Address: 8560 E Elliot Rd, Mesa, AZ 85212, United States

The KRB9 is the largest and most well-recognized Amazon fulfillment center in Arizona. Amazon developed this 1,200,000-square-foot warehouse between Elliot Road and Southern Hawes Road in Mesa during the COVID-19 pandemic.

This location is just a 12-minute drive away from the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and 15-18 minutes away from the nearest subway on Main Street. Amazon built this warehouse with such a huge capacity to store large items.

Additionally, the company wanted to create a place where local third-party sellers could store their inventories at a lower cost. There are already 800-900 workers currently employed at KRB9. However, the company is going to hire a further 400 workers as part-time employees.

These workers get paid around $15-$18 per hour. The wage rate depends on the following:

  • The number of shifts a worker completes in a week.
  • The skills and prior experience of the worker.

Customers who have directly contacted the authorities at this fulfillment center to inquire about their packages reported that the managers listened to their issues and tried to resolve them quickly. However, the employees who work here are not pleased with the following things:

  • Supervisors do not treat employees equally and show favoritism.
  • Managers do not spend enough time training the new staff members.
  • Workers aren’t provided with adequate treatment if they get hurt performing a task.

Amazon Fulfillment Center, Maricopa County-GYR1

Address: 580 S Bullard Ave, Goodyear, AZ 85338, United States

In late 2020, Amazon officially launched its fourth fulfillment center in a suburb of Phoenix known as Goodyear. GYR1 is among Amazon’s high-tech facilities equipped with robotic machines. This 2,300,000-square-foot warehouse is located on Grant Street in southern Bullard Avenue.

The GYR1 fulfillment center is just a two-minute walk from another Amazon fulfillment center. You can easily reach this place within four minutes from the Phoenix-Goodyear Airport and within six minutes from the nearest subway.

Along with the robotic machinery, approximately 1,000 skilled workers work in this facility every day to ensure Amazon’s loyal customers in this region receive their ordered packages on time.

The company has plans to create a total of 3,000 part-time and full-time job opportunities for the residents of this area in the future. There are mixed reviews from the employees about this place.

Some employees feel that they have gained valuable experiences and skills by working here. However, some employees are dissatisfied with the following:

  • The managers in GYR1 are too strict.
  • Night-shift workers get paid only $17.35 per hour.
  • The authorities here aren’t empathetic to female workers, especially those who are pregnant.
  • This place is very messy and people do not carry out their tasks in an organized manner.

In 2011, Amazon constructed this warehouse on Roosevelt Street at 75th Avenue in the capital and largest city of Arizona. According to reports, this is the largest Amazon facility in Phoenix.

Amazon invested more than five million dollars in the construction and development of this 2,500,000-square-foot warehouse. PHX7 is located just five minutes away from the Amazon fulfillment centers KRB3 and GYR3.

Amazon built these warehouses in such close proximity to store large volumes of commodities like:

  • Treadmills.
  • Lawn mowers.
  • Golf clubs.
  • Hockey sticks.

You can reach the PHX7 fulfillment center within five minutes from the subway located on 75th Avenue. Moreover, it will take you only 10-12 minutes to reach this place from the Phoenix-Goodyear Airport.

There are more than one thousand full-time workers currently employed at this fulfillment center. Every week, these employees pack and ship more than three million packages to different parts of the United States from this fulfillment center without any complaints.

During the holiday season, Amazon also hires more part-time associates at this facility to manage the huge rush of orders. This place is always filled with people, packages, and a positive vibe. As a result, the employees love working at PHX7.

Amazon Fulfillment Center, Pima County-TUS2

Address: 6701 S Kolb Rd, Tucson, AZ 85756, United States

Amazon developed this fulfillment center on a one-million-square-foot area in Tucson. The TUS2 warehouse is located in the southeastern part of the city near Century Park on Kolb Road.

This place is only 0.7 miles away from the Port of Tucson. Additionally, the Tucson International Airport and the Tucson railway station are 12-17 minutes away from the TUS2 fulfillment center.

Amazon uses this facility to store smaller items like:

  • Baby diapers.
  • Humidifiers.
  • Digital photo frames.

Around 800-1,000 employees work around the clock to receive goods from suppliers, sort them on shelves, and send them to delivery stations when customers place an order. For this work, Amazon pays these workers fifteen dollars per hour.

Every day, more than fifty thousand parcels leave this facility to reach the nearest sortation and delivery stations. From there, the products reach directly to the hands of the customers.

Amazon Sortation Center, Pima County-TUS5

Address: 3550 E Corona Rd, Tucson, AZ 85756, United States

TUS5 is located on Corona Road in Tucson City near the Tucson Fire Station. This is the nearest sortation center to the Amazon TUS2 fulfillment center. It is just an eleven-minute drive away from the fulfillment center.

Thus, most of the packages in TUS5 come from TUS2 and get sorted as per size, delivery date, and zip codes before the packages go out for delivery. This 270,000 square feet warehouse can hold approximately one million packages and is efficiently operated by 300-400 workers.
