• Amazon Fulfillment Center FAR1 (Fargo, ND): Fargo is located in the eastern part of North Dakota, close to the Minnesota border. It’s a relatively urban area with a population density of around 2,500 people per square mile. 
• Amazon Logistics Delivery Station WND1 (West Fargo, ND): Similar to Amazon warehouse FAR1, West Fargo is also situated in the eastern region of North Dakota, bordering Fargo. The population density in West Fargo is around 1,800 people per square mile, making it less dense than Fargo.
• Amazon Distribution Center in Five Diamonds Industrial Park (Dickinson, ND): Dickinson is in the western part of North Dakota. Compared to Fargo and West Fargo, Dickinson has a lower population density, sitting around 1,100 people per square mile. 1. Amazon Fulfillment Center, Cass County – FAR1

In September 2021, Amazon opened its very first warehouse in Fargo, North Dakota. Covering 1.2 million square feet area, the warehouse features numerous automated machines for easy loading and unloading. 

In this fulfillment center, large items are picked, packed, sorted, and shipped to their destinations. About 1,000 full-time employees are working in the warehouse to pack and deliver orders. 

The types of products stored in the warehouse include bicycles, sports equipment, fishing products, furniture, pet food items, and household goods.

For its workers, Amazon offers competitive wages and attractive additional benefits from day one. The minimum pay range starts at $15 per hour. 

The company offers medical and dental insurance, leave share benefits, parental leave, etc. Although the company offers training programs, many customers have complained about the inefficiency of the workers.

Parcels delivering in the wrong locations, late delivery, taking long hours for unloading, etc., are some examples. If you’re not a local, reaching the warehouse will be a long drive. It will take about 3 hours 44 mins to get there by car.

2. Amazon Delivery Station, Cass County – WND1

For last-mile delivery in North Dakota, Amazon leased the WND1 facility in West Fargo. This 63,000-square-foot facility features loading docks, spacious parking lots for vans and trucks, multiple wide streets for easy movement of vehicles, drainage, etc. 

In the WND1 delivery station, packages are processed, stored, sorted, and delivered. Unlike fulfillment centers, the workers here don’t pack or pick up orders directly from Amazon associates. 

However, just like the previous facility, customers have negative experiences with the delivery system. Many locals complained about late delivery and unloading packages to the wrong address. 

As for the employees, Amazon offers several attractive benefits including medical insurance coverage, career choice programs, skill development training, etc. With cutting-edge technologies and professional trainers, the work environment is pretty helpful even for new employees. 

Unfortunately, not much is known about the wages and recruitment process. From North Dakota downtown, it’s a 3.38-hour ride to the warehouse.

3. Amazon Distribution Center, Stark County

According to some local sources, Amazon is planning to lease the Five Diamonds Industrial Park in Dickinson. The company will turn the building into a distribution center to deliver packages in both Stark and Dunn counties. 

Amazon drivers will deliver picked packages from sellers to the distribution center for sorting. After that, vans and smaller trucks will carry the products to the receivers’ doorstops. 

This way, Amazon plans to ensure fast delivery within a 50-mile radius of the warehouse. In the beginning, the company is planning to hire only 20 full-time employees. There will be limited opportunities for part-time workers too, especially for drivers. 

Although the location is still not marked on the maps, you can drive to the Five Diamonds Industrial Park in 2 hours and 15 mins by car.

Bottom Line

North Dakota is one of those underdeveloped states with the least number of Amazon warehouses. Instead of building new facilities in the area, Amazon is more interested in leasing the existing industrial buildings. 

It’s not clear why Amazon chose not to build too many facilities in the area. The smaller population density of the state, lack of local sellers, permit issues, and scarcity of industrial locations could be the reasons.
