Detailed Location, Work Environment, and Wages of Amazon Warehouses in Wisconsin
In this detailed section, I’ll share all the necessary details for those looking for good-rated Amazon warehouses in Wisconsin in terms of timely delivery and a great work environment. Here’s what we know about the most notable warehouses in the state:
1. Amazon Fulfillment Center, Kenosha County – MKE1
Address: 3501 120th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53144, United States
With the MKE1 fulfillment center, Amazon officially opened its very first warehouse in Wisconsin. The warehouse stands on a massive 1.1-million-square-foot area and started its journey with 1,000 full-time workers.
Soon after the establishment of the warehouse in 2015, many other important buildings and parks were made in the neighboring areas including the Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets, Bristol Renaissance Faire, and Petrifying Springs Park.
Although the warehouse is responsible for creating hundreds of new jobs, it’s not been very helpful for the local sellers because of the inefficiency of the workers. The loaders and drivers have to wait for hours to get their turn.
The distance from the MKE1 warehouse to downtown Kenosha is approximately 10 miles. Depending on traffic conditions, it typically takes about 15 to 20 minutes to drive there.
2. Amazon Distribution Center, Waukesha County – SWI1
Address: W232N2950 Roundy Cir E, Pewaukee, WI 53072, United States
While not as big as the other Amazon warehouses, the SWI1 is a notable facility for being the first distribution center in Waukesha County.
It’s also the nearest warehouse from the Pewaukee city downtown, taking only about 2 minutes to reach there by car. Amazon leased this 165,000-square-foot facility to facilitate same-day delivery across the county.
Here, the products are distributed to different warehouses by zip codes and haul trailers carry them from one stop to the other. Many smaller packages are also stored in the facility so that drivers have to travel a shorter distance for delivery.
In the SWI1 warehouse, there are about 130 workers and the salary range starts at $17. Unfortunately, the ratings for the warehouse are low as most Amazon associates pointed out that the drivers don’t follow the delivery instructions properly.
3. Amazon Prime Now Fulfillment Center, Milwaukee County – UWI1
Address: 4111 W Mitchell Street, Milwaukee, WI 53215, United States
Located in Southeast Milwaukee city, the UWI1 is the only Amazon Prime Now fulfillment center in Wisconsin. The warehouse serves as a storage, packing, and shipping facility to deliver orders to Amazon Prime Now customers.
What’s different about this warehouse is that it delivers products within 1 to 2 hours only within a 15-mile radius. In this 25,000-square-foot facility, only around 50 employees work for an average hourly rate of $17.
The warehouse houses thousands of items ranging from groceries to frozen items to electronic products.
From the facility, drivers deliver products in the south, north, and west sides of the county including locations like Oak Creek and Brown Deer. The warehouse is at an 8-minute distance from Milwaukee downtown.
4. Amazon Fulfillment Center, Rock County – JVL1
Address: 1255 Gateway Blvd, Beloit, WI 53511, United States
In 2020, Amazon opened the only warehouse in Rock County. The fulfillment center is 1 million square feet, providing work to more than 500 local workers. When it started, the company offered $15 per hour for new employees.
Permanent workers can earn more and enjoy additional benefits depending on their positions and work hours in peak seasons. As it’s the only warehouse in the county, work hours aren’t always flexible and it puts extra stress on the employees.
Besides, drivers need to wait for a long time to load and unload due to the lack of proper management. If you take a traffic-free route, it will only take you 10 minutes to get to the warehouse.
5. Amazon Sellery Hub, Dane County
Address: Sellery Hall, W Johnson St, Madison, WI 53706, United States
Located near Park Street, the Sellery Hall Amazon pick-up warehouse is for the staff and students of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Considering the huge number of orders received from the area, Amazon decided to lease the 2,500-square-foot Sellery Hall building and turn it into a warehouse for one-day delivery.
If you place an order before 10 pm, you can expect to receive or pick up the product the next morning. As expected, the warehouse turned out to be immensely helpful for the students who showered it with positive reviews. However, not much is known about the salary range or work environment of the facility.
Final Words
Compared to any other state, the presence of Amazon in Wisconsin is the most notable one. The company already has massive warehouses in the most populated counties of the state.
According to local sources, it’s planning to build more facilities in the state including a 3.4-million-square-feet warehouse in Cottage Grove. However, the expansion has raised questions regarding the monopoly of Amazon in the state. Many local and international industries are now talking against it.
Only time will tell if the company will continue building new facilities and exciting employment opportunities.
