Best Dropshipping Suppliers UK: UK Warehouses, VAT and the Rules

Table of Contents

The best dropshipping suppliers UK sellers can use are the ones that dispatch from UK warehouses, because that avoids import VAT complications and long delivery times. Avasam says all its suppliers are UK-based, VAT-registered companies shipping from UK warehouses, with dispatch within 24 hours on business days. Printify has UK print providers delivering in 2 to 3 business days. CJdropshipping runs a UK warehouse, and Syncee lists suppliers from the UK among others. Dropshipping in the UK also comes with rules: VAT registration is required once taxable turnover goes over £90,000, goods of £135 or less imported from abroad have VAT charged at the point of sale, and online buyers can cancel within 14 days of receiving an item.

Below I compare suppliers, explain the UK VAT and safety rules, and show how I’d set up a UK store.

UK dropshipping suppliers compared

From each supplier’s own pages, checked October 10, 2026:

Supplier UK presence Speed (supplier’s figures) Pricing
Avasam All suppliers UK-based and VAT registered; products dispatched from UK warehouses Dispatch within 24 hours of payment on business days; tracked delivery 1 to 2, 2 to 4 or 3 to 5 days Starter £24.99/month, Advanced £49.99, Preferred £99.99, Guru £199.99 (plus VAT); 0% transaction fees
Printify UK print providers including T Shirt and Sons, Print Clever and Shirt Monkey Production 1 to 5 business days; UK delivery usually 2 to 3 business days Free plan; Premium from $24.99/month billed yearly
CJdropshipping UK warehouse Not published on the page we checked Ask
Syncee Suppliers mostly from the US, Canada, the UK and Europe Varies by supplier Free plan; Basic $39.99/month; 3-day trial

Avasam’s pricing page showed a promotional Starter price when we checked, and one page on its site still mentioned US-based suppliers, which contradicts its FAQ. Confirm terms when you sign up.

My take: for a general UK store, Avasam is the clearest fit because everything ships domestically. For your own designs, Printify’s UK providers keep delivery to a few days. I’d avoid relying on overseas suppliers for a UK-focused brand: slower delivery and VAT handling at import make customer service harder.

UK VAT for dropshippers

VAT is where UK dropshipping differs most from the US. The main rules from GOV.UK:

Situation Rule
UK business with taxable turnover above £90,000 Must register for VAT
Overseas seller with goods located in the UK at the point of sale Must register for VAT, whatever the value
Goods of £135 or less imported from outside the UK UK supply VAT charged at the point of sale
Goods sold from outside the UK through an online marketplace The marketplace is liable for the VAT
Goods already in the UK sold by a non-established seller through a marketplace The marketplace is liable for the VAT

The £135 limit applies to the value of the whole consignment, not each item.

What this means in practice:

  • UK supplier, UK seller: the simplest setup. You register once you pass the threshold, and your supplier charges VAT on its invoices if it’s registered.
  • Overseas supplier shipping parcels under £135: VAT is charged at the point of sale, and you may need to register and account for it, depending on how you sell.
  • Non-UK seller holding stock in the UK: you need to register for VAT from the first sale.

Honestly, VAT is the area where I’d get advice from a UK accountant before launching. The rules depend on where you’re based, where the goods are and how you sell.

Product safety in the UK

In Great Britain, the General Product Safety Regulations 2005 cover products intended for, or likely to be used by, consumers. Producers include UK-based importers, and distributors must act with due care. Northern Ireland follows the EU’s General Product Safety Regulation from December 13, 2024.

The Product Regulation and Metrology Act 2025 gave the government new powers, including measures aimed at making online marketplaces more accountable for unsafe products. Specific marketplace duties are still being consulted on, so keep an eye on GOV.UK updates.

For a dropshipper, the practical rule is simple: if you’re the one selling to UK consumers, make sure your supplier can show the product meets UK safety requirements, especially for toys, electricals and cosmetics.

Return rights you must offer

Under UK consumer rules for online sales, GOV.UK says:

  • customers can cancel within 14 days of receiving their item;
  • they then have another 14 days to return it;
  • you must refund within 14 days of receiving the item back.

Your supplier’s return policy needs to fit around these rights, or the gap is yours to pay. Check where returns go: a UK address is far simpler than an overseas one.

How I’d set up a UK dropshipping store

  1. Choose UK-dispatched suppliers for most of the range.
  2. Order samples and time delivery to a UK address.
  3. Check product safety documents for regulated categories.
  4. Write a returns policy that meets the 14-day rules and matches your supplier.
  5. Price with VAT in mind, and track turnover against the £90,000 threshold.
  6. Show prices in pounds with delivery times stated clearly at checkout.

In my view, speed is the UK store’s biggest advantage. Shoppers are used to next-day and two-day delivery. A supplier dispatching from a UK warehouse lets you compete on that.

Selling on Amazon UK instead?

If you’d rather sell through Amazon, remember that Amazon’s dropshipping policy requires you to be the seller of record and to remove any supplier branding from parcels. Our guide to Amazon FBA in the United Kingdom covers fees, VAT and fulfillment there, and our dropshipping suppliers for Amazon guide explains the policy.

Mistakes UK dropshippers make

  • Ignoring VAT until it’s too late. Track turnover from day one.
  • Using slow overseas suppliers for a UK audience used to fast delivery.
  • A returns policy shorter than the law allows.
  • No safety documents for regulated products.
  • Prices without VAT clarity. Consumer prices should be clear about what’s included.
