We are not a neutral source on what it should cost, and we are not going to publish other
agencies’ prices as though we had verified them.

Amazon listing optimization service cost is driven by scope rather than by the number of listings.
The same phrase covers everything from a keyword-refreshed title for a few dollars to a full rebuild
with new photography, A+ Content, and video costing a four-figure sum per product. Quotes that look wildly different are usually describing different work, and in our experience that is the whole explanation rather than one of several.

This page explains what actually moves the price, so you can compare two quotes properly instead of
comparing two numbers.

The four things that actually drive the price

1. Scope, which matters more than everything else combined

Ranked roughly from cheapest to most expensive:

Copy only. Title, bullets, description, backend search terms. No images. Cheapest by a distance.

Copy plus keyword research. The above with genuine research behind it rather than guesswork.

Copy plus A+ Content. Adds module design and image production. Our guide to
A+ Content sizes covers the production requirements.

Full rebuild. Copy, keyword research, main and secondary images, A+ Content, and sometimes video.

The gap between the first and last is easily tenfold. In our experience most confusion about pricing in this category traces to exactly that spread. Any comparison that does not state which of
these is included is not a comparison, and in our experience this is where sellers get misled without
anyone lying to them.

2. Whether images are included

The single biggest line item when it appears. Photography is a separate craft with separate costs,
and an agency quoting listing optimization without images is quoting a fraction of the job for
categories where images decide the sale.

If your product photographs badly or your current images came off a phone, images are probably the highest-return part of the whole exercise, and I’d fund those before touching the copy. When I have compared the two on the same listing, the images moved conversion and the copy moved rank.

3. Category and competition

A listing in a crowded category needs more research and sharper differentiation than one in a quiet
niche. Regulated categories cost more because compliance claims have to be checked rather than written. Getting them wrong creates a policy problem rather than a marketing one, and in my experience that is the mistake that costs most.

4. Volume, but not the way people expect

Per-listing pricing does fall with volume, and less than sellers hope. Research and photography do
not scale down much, because each product needs its own. The genuine savings on a large catalog come
from template reuse and shared keyword research within a product family, not from a bulk discount on
the work itself.

Variations are the exception worth knowing. A parent with 8 child variations is closer to one listing
than to eight, since much of the copy and imagery is shared. If you have variation-heavy products,
say so when asking for a quote, because it should move the price materially.

The pricing models, and what each one hides

Per listing, fixed. The most common and the easiest to compare, provided the scope is written down.
Ask what a revision costs, because in my experience that is where fixed-price work goes wrong.

Per listing, tiered. Basic, standard, premium. Fine, as long as you can see exactly what moves
between tiers rather than adjectives.

Hourly. Honest for open-ended work, uncomfortable for a defined deliverable. I’d want a cap.

Retainer, listings included. Sensible when optimization is continuous rather than a one-off, which
for an active catalog it usually is. The risk is paying monthly for work that finished in month two.

On market rates, we are deliberately not publishing a range. Quotes vary by scope, category,
geography, and who is doing the work, and a range published here would be repeated as a benchmark it
does not deserve. An earlier version of this page carried specific figures for tiers of work; those
have been removed because we could not stand behind them as market rates.

Ask three providers for a written scope against the same brief. In our experience the spread tells you more than any published figure does.

What you should get for the money

A checklist worth holding a quote against. If an item is not mentioned, ask.

Keyword research delivered as a document, not just applied silently. You should own the research.

Title, bullets, and description, written for the shopper rather than stuffed for the algorithm.

Backend search terms, which are invisible and routinely skipped.

A defined number of revisions, stated in advance.

Image work specified precisely: how many, what type, whether lifestyle shots are included.

A+ Content module plan, if A+ is in scope, rather than “we will do A+”.

Compliance review for regulated categories.

Before-and-after measurement, agreed before the work starts.

That last one is the one sellers skip and later regret. Agree what you are measuring first, because
attributing a change afterward is close to impossible. Sessions, conversion rate, and organic rank for
a named keyword set are all reasonable. “Sales went up” is not, because sales move for a dozen reasons.

What we actually see when we quote this

I’d rather describe the pattern than publish a rate card, because the pattern is the useful part.

Most inquiries ask for the wrong thing first. The request is usually “optimize my listings”, plural,
across a whole catalog. In our experience the right first job is smaller: pick the 5 listings with the
most sessions and the worst conversion, fix those properly, and see what happens. That costs a fraction
of a catalog-wide project and it tells you whether the money works before you commit it.

Photography is underfunded and copy is overfunded. When I have looked at a listing that converts
badly, the images were the problem more often than the words. Copy is cheaper to produce, which is
probably why it gets bought first.

Nobody agrees the measurement in advance. Then three months later there is a disagreement about
whether it worked, with no baseline to settle it. I’ve found that single omission causes more friction
between sellers and agencies than pricing ever does.

The quotes that look cheapest usually exclude images, backend terms, or revisions. Not dishonestly.
The scope simply differs, and comparing headline figures across different scopes is how people end up
paying twice.

Is it worth the cost?

Sometimes clearly yes, sometimes clearly no, and the test is arithmetic rather than judgment.

Work out what a conversion-rate improvement is worth to you. Take your current sessions and your current conversion rate, model a modest lift rather than a heroic one, multiply the extra units by your contribution margin, and compare that annual figure against the quote in front of you: if the arithmetic does not clear the fee comfortably, the listing is not the constraint. That calculation takes 10 minutes. In our experience almost nobody does it. If your product gets few sessions,
the answer is usually that you have a traffic problem rather than a listing problem, and optimizing the
listing improves a page nobody is visiting.

High-traffic, low-conversion listings are where optimization pays best, and when I have looked for the best candidates in a catalog, that filter found them. Traffic is already arriving
and something on the page is losing it. That is the clearest case for spending money here, and in our
experience it is also where the improvement is largest.

Low-traffic listings need visibility first, and I’d fix that before paying anyone. Advertising, keyword coverage, or a pricing problem.
Our guide to increasing glance views covers the
traffic side, and I’d fix that before paying anyone to rewrite bullets.

A brand-new listing is a special case. No data. Nothing to diagnose. When I have been asked to optimize a listing that has never had traffic, the sensible spend has been on getting the fundamentals right once rather than iterating against numbers that do not exist yet.

Doing it yourself, honestly assessed

Most of the copy work is learnable. The parts that are genuinely hard to do alone are photography,
A+ design, and knowing which of your listing’s weaknesses actually matters.

If your catalog is small and your time is worth less than the fee, do it yourself and spend the money on
photography. That is the honest recommendation. In our experience we give it often enough that it is worth putting on a page that sells the service.

Where an agency earns its cost is scale, category expertise, and the diagnostic step. Deciding which 20 listings out of 200 deserve attention is worth more than rewriting all 200. In our experience it is also the part sellers find hardest to do about their own catalog, because it requires deciding some products are not worth the money.

Where we fit

ZonHack provides Amazon listing optimization
across copy, keyword research, imagery, and A+ Content, and we are an Amazon Ads partner and an Amazon
SPN Verified Partner. We have optimized 10,000+ listings.

Our pricing starts at $149 per listing, with volume discounts and full-store packages for larger
catalogs. That figure covers the optimization itself; imagery and A+ production are quoted separately
because they vary so much by product. Given everything above about scope, I’d rather you knew the starting
number and then asked what a specific catalog would actually involve.

If you want the evaluation framework rather than the service, our guide to
choosing an Amazon account management service
covers the questions worth asking any provider, including us.

FAQ

How much does Amazon listing optimization cost?

It depends almost entirely on scope rather than on listing count. Copy-only work sits at one end and a
full rebuild with photography, A+ Content, and video at the other, with roughly a tenfold spread
between them. Ask three providers to quote against the same written brief and compare the scope
alongside the fee.

Does the price fall if I have many listings?

Somewhat, and less than sellers expect. Research and photography do not scale down much because each
product needs its own. Real savings come from shared keyword research and template reuse within a
product family, and from variations, since a parent with several children is closer to one listing than
to several.

Are images included in listing optimization?

Frequently not, and it is the largest line item when it is. An agency quoting optimization without
images is quoting part of the job, which matters most in categories where images decide the sale.

What should be included in a listing optimization service?

Keyword research delivered as a document you own, title, bullets, description, backend search terms, a
stated number of revisions, precisely specified image work, an A+ module plan if A+ is in scope,
compliance review for regulated categories, and agreed before-and-after measurement.

When is listing optimization not worth paying for?

When the listing gets little traffic. Optimization improves conversion on a page people already visit,
so a low-traffic listing usually has a visibility problem instead. Fix traffic first, then optimize the
page it lands on.

Can I optimize Amazon listings myself?

Most of the copy work is learnable, and for a small catalog that is often the right call, with the
budget spent on photography instead. The harder parts to do alone are photography, A+ design, and
diagnosing which weaknesses on your own listing actually matter.

Last updated: August 31, 2026.
