Amazon opens, closes, and repurposes buildings
continually, and no facility on this list accepts visitors or takes calls about individual
parcels, which is why we do not publish site phone numbers.

The Texas codes people look up most

DDF5 sits at 15501 N Beach St in Roanoke, north of Fort Worth. Our listing does not record a
type for it.

DSX8 is a delivery station at 11602 Tech Com Dr in San Antonio, so a parcel there is close to
delivery.

HTX3 is searched frequently but is not in our listing. It is a Houston-area code, and we would
rather say so than guess at an address.

Four metros, four networks

Dallas County holds the most facilities, with Harris County (Houston) close behind. Tarrant County
and Bexar County follow, then Travis County around Austin.

The four-cluster pattern is a function of distance. Houston to Dallas is far enough that serving one
from the other would break next-day promises, so each metro carries its own fulfillment capacity
rather than acting as a spoke. That is unusual. Most states have a single center of gravity, and
smaller cities are served from it.

Two practical consequences. A Texas parcel usually stays inside its own metro cluster, so a
Houston resident seeing a Dallas facility in tracking is looking at something slightly out of the
ordinary rather than routine. And Coppell, which sits between Dallas and Fort Worth near the
airport, punches well above its size because it serves the air network as well as the ground one.

The distances also mean rural Texas is genuinely underserved compared with the metros. West Texas
and the Panhandle are covered from Dallas or from out of state, and delivery promises there are
correspondingly longer.

What it means when your parcel is at one of these

Knowing what kind of building your parcel is sitting in changes how much patience the situation
deserves, and in our experience most people worry at exactly the wrong moment.

Inventory lives at a fulfillment center, so a parcel scanned there has generally not been picked
and packed yet. A sortation center deals only with packed parcels, sorting them toward the right
region. A delivery station is the final stop before a van, and I’d expect delivery within a day
or so of seeing one. Our guide to the different types of Amazon warehouse
covers what happens inside each, and sortation center versus fulfillment center
covers the pair people confuse most.

On the codes themselves, a caution. Amazon does not publish how it names facilities, which
means any lookup table circulating online is somebody’s inference. The leading D for a delivery
station is the one convention that mostly survives scrutiny. For everything else, in our experience
the type column above is the safer guide than anything the letters appear to suggest.

If the parcel has stopped moving entirely, our guide to what a carrier delay means
covers how long to wait before it is worth doing anything, and our guide to
a disappeared order covers the case where
the order itself has vanished from your account rather than the parcel from the network.

If your code is not on this list

Plenty of people arrive here, search for their code, and find nothing. I’d not treat that as a
dead end, because there are only a few explanations and none of them are alarming.

The building is over a state line. Much the commonest reason. Parcel networks pay no attention to
borders, and neighboring states routinely handle each other’s volume. In our experience this accounts
for the large majority of missing codes.

The facility is newer than this listing. Amazon opens buildings continually and no compiled list
keeps pace. If the code looks unfamiliar and recent, that is likely why.

The code belongs to a partner rather than to Amazon. Contracted delivery firms and third-party
logistics providers generate their own scan codes, which never appear on a list of Amazon facilities.

You misread a character. Genuinely common. Zero against O, one against I, five against S. When I
have chased a code that seemed not to exist, roughly half the time it was a transcription slip.

None of these change what you should do, which is wait for the tracking to update rather than
investigate the building.

Other Amazon buildings you may see in tracking

Beyond fulfillment, sortation, and delivery, several other building types appear in tracking,
and each explains a different oddity.

An air hub exists to move freight between regions by plane, so a scan there can put your parcel a
long way from anywhere you expected. A receive center, also called a cross-dock, takes bulk
inbound freight from manufacturers and splits it for onward distribution, meaning nothing inside is
assigned to a customer. Amazon Warehousing and Distribution holds bulk inventory upstream and
tops up fulfillment centers on its own schedule. Returns centers inspect and grade what comes
back. Third-party partner sites are contracted rather than owned, which is why the address
sometimes looks like an ordinary industrial unit.

In our experience these account for most of the tracking scans people cannot make sense of.

Visiting, calling, and collecting

One question worth answering before you ask it: none of these buildings are open to the
public. Fulfillment centers, sortation centers, and delivery stations do not accept visitors, do
not hold parcels for collection, and do not have a desk that will discuss your order. If you need to
collect something, Amazon Locker and Amazon Hub Counter locations are the designated points, and
they are entirely separate from the facilities listed here.

The same goes for phone numbers. Several published lists of Amazon facilities include site numbers,
and I’d ignore them. They ring switchboards that cannot look up an order, and in our experience
people waste an afternoon on that before calling Amazon customer service, which is where the
question belonged in the first place.

What Texas offers a seller, and what it does not

Texas is attractive for the obvious reason and one less obvious one.

The obvious reason is proximity to a very large domestic market with no state income tax and low
warehousing costs, which is why third-party prep and storage providers cluster around Dallas and
Houston.

The less obvious one is the Gulf ports and the Laredo land crossing, which matter if you import.
Houston is a major container port and Laredo is the busiest land port on the Mexican border, so
goods coming from Asia via the Gulf or from Mexican manufacturing enter the country here rather than
crossing it. Our guide to sourcing management
covers the inbound side of that.

What Texas does not offer is placement control. Amazon assigns your inbound destination, and the
size of the Texas network changes nothing about that. Only fulfillment centers hold seller
inventory, so the delivery stations in the table above are not storage options however conveniently
they sit.

What this page is for, and what it is not. Worth being direct about, because I’ve found
readers assume more precision than any compiled list can offer.

The data comes from public listings, not from Amazon, so it lags reality in both directions:
recently closed sites may persist, recently opened ones may be missing. The type column repeats what
those listings said. In our experience it holds up well, though not perfectly.

Treat the page as a lookup for a code you already have and as a way to place your parcel in the
sequence. I’d not treat it, or any similar list, as an exact census of Amazon’s buildings.

FAQ

How many Amazon warehouses are in Texas?

The full list appears in the table above with codes, addresses, and types. Texas holds one of the
largest state footprints in the country, spread across four largely independent metro clusters
rather than concentrated in one.

Which Texas city has the most Amazon facilities?

Houston leads on city count, with Dallas close behind, followed by Fort Worth and San Antonio. By
county, Dallas County holds the most, with Harris County a close second.

What does the facility code on my Texas tracking mean?

It identifies a specific building. Search this page for your code to find its address and type. A
leading D usually indicates a delivery station, which means your parcel is near you, but the type
column is more reliable than the letters since Amazon does not publish its naming scheme.

Why does Texas have four separate Amazon networks?

Because the distances between Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin are too great to serve one
metro from another without breaking delivery promises. Each carries its own fulfillment capacity
rather than acting as a spoke off a single hub, which is unusual among states.

How quickly does Amazon deliver in rural Texas?

More slowly than in the metros. West Texas and the Panhandle are served from Dallas or from out of
state, and the distances involved lengthen delivery promises compared with Houston or Dallas-Fort
Worth addresses.

Should a seller store inventory in Texas?

You cannot choose to. Amazon assigns inbound destinations through Send to Amazon regardless of your
preference. Texas is genuinely useful on the inbound side instead, because the Gulf ports and the
Laredo border crossing bring imported goods into the country here.

Last updated: August 29, 2026. Compiled from public listings; Amazon’s facility network changes
continually and this page will lag it. Facilities do not accept visitors or handle parcel
inquiries. For warehouse employment, Amazon’s own hiring site carries current openings and is
the only accurate source.

Every Amazon warehouse in Texas with its facility code, address, and type across Dallas, Houston, San Antonio and Austin.
